Sexually Transmitted Infections (S.T.I's) are most commonly passed on through vaginal, oral and anal sex. You don't need to have a lot of sexual partners to get an S.T.I.
The possibility of getting an infection may not be something that you have ever thought about. Nowadays, it is stupid to have the 'It won't happen to me' mentality.
Finding out about S.T.I's is one way of avoiding them. If you feel you need more information then don't be afraid to ask.
Common Symptoms of an S.T.I are as follows:
- Unusual discharge or liquid from vagina or penis
- Pain or burning when passing urine (wee)
- Itches, rashes, lumps or blistering around genitals or anus (bum/backside)
- Pain and/or during sex
- Bleeding after sex and/or between periods
However, symptoms can vary from infection to infection and many S.T.I's show no symptoms at all. It is not uncommon to have more than one infection at the same time.
