Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) Affects men and women. The HIV virus damages the body's immune system leaving the body vulnerable to infections leading to illness.

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Caused by HIV damaging the immune system, this leads to the body becoming very weak which means certain infections or cancers can develop, these can be fatal. Best ways of avoiding HIV are:
- Consistently using a condom when sexually active
- Limiting the amount of sexual partners may help
- Not sharing needles/syringes when injecting drugs
Symptoms include:
The symptoms of HIV and AIDS vary amongst individuals.
Treatment:
There is no cure or vaccine for HIV. Some anti HIV drugs are available and can slow down the damage caused by HIV.
