Female Contraception
There are several methods of contraception available to females. Certain types are called barrier methods, and the other types make physical changes to the female body to prevent conception.
Some types of contraception just prevent pregnancies, but offer no protection from sexually transmitted diseases.
Some of the barrier methods are severe choices for young ladies. You have to decide what method is preferred for yourself, and your GP is always there to offer advice, as well as staff at local GUM clinics or the teenage pregnancy team.
Preventing pregnancy, but catching a sexually transmitted disease isn't appealing to anyone, so to ensure to prevent both, a condom is the best way to do so.

Read the contraception section on the different types of contraception available, and also educate yourself on how to use a condom correctly. Condoms are only effective if used correctly. It is also the female's responsibility to know of their use.
Condoms have several benefits to young ladies. They only require use during sexual intercourse, so you do not have to suffer the side-effects sometimes evident with other contraceptive methods, or having to remind yourself to take the pill every day. There is nothing in today's modern world that says a woman cannot possess condoms, and let's be honest, you don't want to always rely on the male to have them with him!
